The Kentucky Forest Industries Association (KFIA) represents a diverse
group of individuals and companies committed to the growth and sustainability
of our forestland and our businesses.
With more than fifty years of support, the KFIA is recognized amongst
business leaders, elected officials, and local communities as the voice of our
industry. We appreciate the support of our sponsoring members, our board,
and the staff to continue our mission of Growing Kentucky’s Forests and
Supplying the World.
From Paducah to Pikeville, our companies add significant value in rural
and metropolitan areas alike. With a payroll exceeding $1.5 billion
annually and total employment approaching 60,000, the businesses that make up
this association are vital to Kentucky’s economy. We must continue
raising up our employee base and empower them to earn higher wages and grow
within their respective organizations.
We have seen a resurgence in our industry in line with the overall
economy. New products and enhanced technology continue to have a positive
impact in the forest products sector. Challenges are no doubt on the
horizon and we have the resources to overcome them. Our trade association
is one of those resources.
Our collective voice, the KFIA, is the most powerful tool we have to
influence public policy to benefit all members. Additionally, our network
is vital to the success of our business dealings amongst each other and to
share our positive story with the surrounding region and the country. I
encourage you to consider the variety of membership benefits and how your
company is taking action.
The KFIA is only as strong as its membership. I believe we are at
a pivotal time in the history of this association. We must focus on
recruitment to bring new individuals, new companies, and new ideas into the
fold. I hope that you will join us in outreach to prospective members and
remind them the value of KFIA now and for future generations.
Regards,
Michael
Thornberry, KFIA Membership Chairman
